Magnia is committed to conducting our business with integrity, transparency, and adherence to ethical standards. This Compliance and Ethics Policy outlines our commitment to upholding ethical standards and ensuring compliance with legal requirements in all aspects of our operations.

Modern slavery and human trafficking

Magnia is committed to a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our operations. Our commitment is amplified by the experience of two of our Co-Founders, who both have a background working with one of the world’s most impactful anti-slavery organisations.

To prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our network or business activities, given the prevalence in our operating regions, we conduct comprehensive due diligence on all business partners and suppliers. We further equip our team members with the knowledge to identify potential risks through annual anti-slavery and human trafficking training. This proactive approach allows us to address any instances associated with our activities.

Child protection

In Magnia’s work, when our activities involve contact with children, such as on field trips or events, we prioritise their safety and well-being. We provide guidelines and procedures for staff and partners to ensure the appropriate safeguarding of children, including guidelines for photography and posting on social media, interaction protocols, and reporting mechanisms for any concerns related to child welfare.

Anti-terrorism & anti-bribery

We ensure mutual commitment with our staff and partners to ensure that they do not engage in any form of bribery or corruption, whether directly or indirectly. This includes refraining from offering, promising, giving, soliciting, or accepting any form of inducement or benefit to influence any decision or action, whether from government officials, representatives, entities, or any other individuals or organisations. Our partnership is founded on principles of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct, and we pledge to uphold these values in all our interactions and endeavours.

We are also committed to ensuring that our staff and partners do not directly or indirectly:

  • engage in, support or promote violence or terrorist activity
  • knowingly employ, contract with, provide support to or otherwise have dealings with persons, groups or entities that engage in or support terrorism
  • transact or have dealings with countries, territories, persons or entities that are subject to embargoes, sanctions or other restrictions

No political affiliations

As part of our commitment to ethical conduct, neither our staff nor our partners shall allocate any portion of project fees or resources towards engaging in political activities. This includes refraining from providing direct or indirect support or opposition to any political party or candidate for public office.

Furthermore, all services delivered or conducted by our organisation under this agreement shall remain free from any involvement in supporting or opposing political parties or candidates. This policy ensures that our operations remain impartial and focused solely on the objectives outlined in our agreements, fostering trust and transparency in our partnerships and relationships.

Management

The management team is responsible for fostering a culture of compliance and ethics within the organisation, providing leadership, resources, and support to ensure adherence to this policy.

Staff and partners

All staff and partners are expected to familiarise themselves with this policy and comply with its provisions.
